They help you come back to the language without letting the streak, XP, or leagues define whether the goal is alive.

Two valid outcomes for the streak

Consider a plain example. You keep the streak because it nudges you to open the app, and opening the app keeps the language on the table. You do a short session as a lead‑in to a podcast or a few sentences you try to write. The flame rises, but the meaning is in the contact that follows it.

A different week, you let the streak lapse while you spend time talking with a friend, watching a film with subtitles off, or rereading a short story you marked up last month. The counter resets, but the goal did not vanish. In both cases, the practice is intact because you decided what mattered and used the product accordingly.

When you open Duolingo, measure the session against that line. If the app supports the line today, continue. If it does not, you can step away or use a different kind of contact without treating that move as failure.
